Reliable racial identity information

Having a racial identity crisis, haha. Help?
So I know this kid, and his dad is black and his mom is half black half white. So he's 75 % black, 25 % white. He calls himself mixed race, not black, and everyone else calls him mixed race too. We were talking today and we realized that I'm 75 % white, 25 % asian... but I've been calling myself white my whole life. But he says I'm mixed, so I really don't know. What would I count as?

Should it matter what racial identity one wants to go by?
Why do ppl care so much what a person chooses to identify as? In particular the whole African American issue. Me personally I just call myself a black guy. However, I do use African American in like a formal setting. Likewise if a white person is close w their culture I dont have a problem w them identifying as Greek American, German American, English American, Lithuanian American, etc.Or even asians who are generally STRONGLY close w their roots going by Indian American, Chinese American. So my question why is it anyones business what a person chooses to call themselves?

What racial identity am I?
I'm Mexican but since that is a nationality what do i call myself racially? I don't look white, maybe a bit black but light skinned. I dont look asian nor native american. What am I? Can I say black and white? or native american and black? again i'm light brown skinned but i dont have white people in my bloodline family.

Has the U.S. permenently lost it's racial identity?
Say what you want about racism, but the US has a history of slavery, segregation and racial discrimination of new immigrants. Slavery was wrong, as was the murder of innocent indigenous people, but nevertheless, race is or was part of the US national identity. The US used to only take northern Europeans, and many of these Irish, German, English, Dutch etc people " mixed" to form what was the stereotypical " White American" . This is what an American was for the majority of the history of the US. After the civil war, there was still the idea of a " white American" , but the US constantly changes the definition of white. Now the US considers anyone from Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East to be " white" . I'm not sure why the government does this, but I don't think that most Americans consider Arabs to be " white" . Because the population of " white Americans" is refusing to define white as a clearly defined ethnic group, and because many white Americans breed with people outside of their race, I no longer consider the United States of America to be my country. My ethnic group has a history which includes the Roman Empire, the Holy Roman Empire, The British Empire, Prussia, and now the United States of America 1776 2009 . This is how I feel. White Americans no longer care about their people, and soon will not be the same people as before. I would really like to move to a country in northern Europe where the white population is 95 % or higher. The Euro is worth way more than the dollar and will likely continue to rise as the EU becomes more integrated, yet Americans continue to complain that " socialism doesn't work" .Ginny that answer is fine, but then interpret my question as " Has the north American continent permenently lost it's racial identity again as it did in the late 1600s?" By the way, the " U.S." is NOT a continent, " America" is a continent and the US was formed in 1776.

How long do you think it will take for society to do away with racial identity?

Is being Jewish a racial identity or an adherent of a religion?

Other culture&groups : what if we woke up with the same racial identity?

Whats your racial identity?
I myself am a " White and black afro carribean " ... I'm quite a mixture.I dont get that though, it describes the ethnicity of the " black" but not white? hmm.Anyway, what are you? what does passport say etc? I wasn't naming countries but... I'm part Scottish Welsh English. Also some australian.

What do I do to solve my racial identity crisis?
It's not really a crisis, per se, but it's been bugging me since I was old enough to know that I don't have a solid ethnic background like most of the people I know. My dad is almost full pueblo there was a frenchman in the family way back when and my mother is scottish, irish, german, norwegian, and cherokee.I have some native american features, but I'm very pale. My mother has encouraged me to connect with my scotch irish roots, but everyone assumes I'm mexican and I get a lot of discriminatory remarks made against me until I " confess" my heritage. And living in California, it's not that easy to connect with Ireland and Scotland. On the other hand, the latino population around here generally considers me a white boy. I'm middle class and while I can speak spanish I don't have an accent. I don't have family south of the border, just in Texas. I don't know who I am or what I want to be.

Why are many Mestizo Latin Americans ignorant regarding their racial identity?
In You tube video titled" Brown people try to be White Census 2010" Hispanics" " This video shows the truly sad ignorant racial self awareness the pure & mixed blood Mestizo American Indians of Latin America possess I'm sorry but noneof these peoples are " Spanish" or " Spaniards" ,These people should visit Spain to see first hand what TRUE Spaniards look like,I'm Spanish and as you can see White .The only TRUE Hispanics are the original peoples of Hispania the ancient Roman name for Spain ,in much the same exact way that the only TRUE Britannics are the original peoples of Britannia the ancient Roman name for Britain . I hope you are aware that Latin America is not part of Hispania, nor is it located in Europe

Why do Black/White bi racials have so many issues with racial identity?
Its always black and white bi racials that have this problem. I think its because they just don't like being called black and thats just sad and white people don't accept them as white.Don't steal my answer.. Who the F CK is that?

What do you think is the best way we can put racial identity behind us?

How important is racial identity to you?
Let's pretend for a second that this thing called " race" actually exists. Black, white, brown, yellow, and whatever other color variations there are. I'm not talking about ethnic identity here American, Haitian, Irish, Japanese, etc. . I'm referring to the generalized " color label" brushed over different ethnic groups that happen to share the same or same " ish" skin tone. How important is your racial identity to you, not to your family, not to society, not to your significant other, but to you?

How can we as individuals understand black racial identity development?
Give me you opinion?
