Why do inter-race relations in America seem so much worse than in Europe, Australia, Canada, etc?
Sorry for not being specific. I mean general relations and interactions between people from different racial backgrounds. Specifically racial intolerance and or violence. The way people are referred to, or refer to themselves as 'African American', 'Italian American', 'Mexican American',etc. Seems like, in a way, they want to distance themselves from other Americans, or other people want to be distant from them. I don't know if that's true. It's just seems strange, in the UK everyone is just British and the only time you would use 'African British' or 'White British' is on a census or other sorts of paperwork.

Does anybody feel we still have a long way to go as far race relations?

Why are topic like race relations and gay marriage a sensitive topic with this generation?
Everyone is so afraid to talk about important issues with being defensive and offended. I don't understand why everyone is so scared to talk about. They shout down the other person that may have a different opinion from them not giving the other person a chance to debate their thoughts with the other person. This is not a good thing at all and it does nothing more than to ignite more ignorance among each other. We need to learn how to talk to each other without wanting to physically fight or get overly emotional about a simple question of why you support gay marriage etc. What do you think? CatYou try to say anything about gay marriage, you get shouted down and defaced as being something you're not. No I'm not joking and you're point was nothing more than emotional. Ms. LinI know that song but that quote doesn't go quite well with your point. The fact is, what you understand and think is right doesn't make it so. It's called opinion, that's what I know. MarthaThank you that's all what I'm asking, a good valid point. Now the arrogant part, yea I am. hole, sure I can be so there was no insult there. Usually people like me are the most hated but yet the most successful. MarthaI do happen to be arrogant, I heard that many times in real life but I am not a racist or against gay 's rights, for all I care they can be unhappy like heterosexual couples and get married. I was just stating that when you try to talk about these subjects, people make you out to be some sort of monster and shouting you down without you even trying to explain your point. The political correct mentality has damage the simple thing like communication. And everyone in their life can be a hole. I thought that was what you was referring to me.

How do some black Americans reason that race relations today are reverting to the 1950s?
I'm not disputing this theory I've seen expressed on here , nor supporting the idea, but I'd like to know why some black people think this is the case. What things, if any, are making some black people say this? Not judging, just asking.Thank you guys, food for thought

Is America headed toward better race relations?
Are we trying hard enough to improve race relations in america, or do you feel that we put more focus on our relations with other countries? and Why? Equal rights for blacks brothaB Bless you I feel that way sometimes. In certain situations it can feel like nothing has changed in its content, but rather the appearance of things are blurred hidden and ignored. I am grateful though when I can sit shoulder to shoulder with my white brothers and sisters and hold a conversation that may make him grin or her smile. Just having that peace lets me see that something s have changed. Even if people are the same, I feel that barriers that blocked us from expressing who we really are may have fallen over under the freedom of expressing how we feel towards others.
